Description

The Saint Louis skyline or cityscape is one of the most beautiful and recognizable in the United States. With the Saint Louis Arch in the background and the reflection of lights in the mighty Mississippi River, it just doesn’t get much better than that!

This particular shot wasn’t quite as easy to get as I thought it would be. I knew the type of shot I wanted to get so I started looking on the map to find the right location. Once I got there, I noticed there was a park that had a little ramp where people could walk up and take pictures of the Saint Louis Skyline.

There was only one small problem. In order to capture as much of the Saint Louis skyline as possible, I had to use a 35mm lens. When I looked through the viewfinder, I could see power lines. I could also see a train!

So I did the only thing I could do… Went down the ramp, crossed the main road and hopped over the train tracks, set up my camera, and took what I feel to be the perfect picture of the Saint Louis Skyline.

I wanted this to be a long exposure so I could make the Mississippi River as clear as possible. The longer the exposure, the better off I would be. I didn’t want to make it too long because the clouds above the skyline would have been blurred too much for my taste.

This photograph was taken at an extremely high resolution. It would be perfect for an office wall, home, magazine cover, or anywhere a beautiful skyline could be used.
