Finished With Waco

We did in fact get to leave Waco on Friday afternoon. Everything went according to plan. It was a little tough when we started pouring concrete. We were supposed to have a small pump from Brundage Bone Concrete Pumping, but they decided it would be better to use the “boom” instead. Needless to say, when you try to use a 4″ hose to pump concrete in a 2″ opening, it usually goes the way you’d expect… very hard!

Instead of a small trailer pump, we ended up with this!

At least the boom operator knew what he was doing when he actually got it inside the building by a couple of feet. He’s braver than I am! I don’t think I would have even at-temped it.

The one thing I can say about my visit to the Walmart Distribution Center in Waco is the maintenance  guys working there were and are first class! When they saw what we were trying to do with the big boom truck and how much trouble we were having, there were no less than 4 Walmart maintenance workers there to help! They did more than just help pour the concrete, but I’ll let you know that everything they did was nothing they were required to do! I’ll be more than happy to work at that particular Walmart DC anytime!

The parking lot got a good sweeping, we packed up and were told we had to go to Baytown, Texas. It wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do, but as I weigh my options, it seemed like the only thing I could do.

I had been told several times that we were going, but thought it was supposed to take place next week instead of this week. Read my next post and you’ll see the many other things that were changed. I’ll also have a review about the hotel we stayed in. Trust me when I tell you that one will be worth reading!

I’m not complaining. I just need to know what I’m in for when I get to a job. I’m putting a couple more pictures  of the job in Waco.

Don't let the picture fool you. This was the big opening in the back of the pit. The sides were 2" openings. After touching up, this is what the final product looks like. Turned out very well!
