Day 2 In Waco

Finally got to pour some concrete! Considering how long I’ve been here, I’m right on schedule. That’s a good thing. I have jobs to do back in Northwest Arkansas to do and next Thursday I have to be in Baytown, Texas.

I finished saw cutting as quickly as I could so I could start removing the concrete. Saw cutting is only one part of the job before I pour the concrete floor. I had concrete scheduled for noon.

Had to use a cutting torch on one of the docks because there’s was rebar inside the wall that I just couldn’t cut with the saw. Once the original concrete came out, I removed the gravel with the backhoe, put everything in the dumpster and moved like my butt was on fire for the next 2 hours! I got a call from the concrete plant letting me know that if I didn’t pour by noon, (It rained today, so we were the only ones left pouring concrete) we were going to have to wait until Friday morning! That’s why I had to move so quickly.

Concrete showed up and had to wait a few minutes before I could pour. Didn’t really matter to the driver. The drivers always tell me, “I’m paid by the hour, so I’ll sit here all day if you want me to!” Nice way to look at your job, huh?

I poured the floors, finished them and got everything looking halfway decent and was just about physically wore down! It was time to call it a day. With the floors being wet, I really can’t do much anyway.

If I do as good today as I think I will, I should be able to leave for home this afternoon. Yee Haw!!! I’ll write more later and let you know how it went.

I’m putting a couple of pictures below so you can see some of what I have to do here.

Saw cutting the top. It takes about 30-45 minutes per dock to cut

Usually I torch these off, but this time I used my saw. It was a lot quicker! This is a view with both bumpers cut off and my saw cut lines ready.
