I left Williamsburg around 1:45 PM on May 3rd. Got less than 40 miles down the road and had a flat on my trailer. Got a couple of hundred miles more and my truck had a warning saying one of my tires was low. I pulled into a gas station and discovered I had a nail in it that was about to come out and leaking air. I managed to fix it with one of those tire repair kits.
I slept at a rest area for about 4 hours or so, got up and hit the road again. There seems to be this trend with my truck that when the gas tank goes below half, it starts sucking faster and faster. I started looking for a gas station when I reached a quarter, but when I did finally find one, it was just a little too late. I ran out of gas just before I reached the top of the hill. I could practically see the gas station there… taunting me!
It looked to be at least 2 miles away, so I compromised.
I cut a 3 foot piece of hose I had in the back of the trailer, stuck it in my hydraulic machine and sucked enough gas out of it to get me to the gas station.
For the rest of the trip, I didn’t have a single problem. Took me 24 1/2 hours to get from Williamsburg, Virginia. It was well worth it to drive straight through. Well, minus the 4 hour nap!
I’m happy to be home amongst friendly faces! I thank God for my safe trip and I thank everyone who kept me in their prayers for the last 3 months!
