Today’s the day we’ve set aside to honor our mothers. A day when they should be able to sit back, relax and take a breather from their regular routine of chaos.
My wife, Denise, is such an awesome wife and mother! I look at my girls and cant help but think about all she does for them. I’ve tried to do some of the things she does as a mom, and trust me, everyone knows when daddy does one of moms jobs at home.
Every once in awhile, mom ends up not feeling well. I’ll get up like always to wake the kids up. I’ll get them some breakfast and approve their choice of clothes. No sooner than they walk through the door, mom tells them there’s no way they’re walking outside “with that on!” I don’t dare complain unless I want to hear about my lack of fashion for the next 3 minutes.
She’s sooo good about taking the time to help with homework. There have been times when she stayed up what seemed like half the night to help Brittany with her math… only to discover that she had science and reading to do after that! Mom always helped her get it done. She wouldn’t allow her to give up. Now, as a result of mom’s efforts, Brittany has started doing really well in school! She still plays around when she shouldn’t, but she’s doing much, much better! I attribute much of that to mom and her being so consistent. Not to mention her not giving up!
She’s helped Amber officially become a “woman”. While Amber may have been a little scared about what was happening, mom knew exactly what to do, exactly what to tell her and everything turned out just fine. Thanks to mom! Can you imagine what would have happened had I had to do the teaching on that subject?
I know that Denise and I celebrate our Anniversary to honor our marriage and Valentine’s Day to celebrate out love, but I honestly wish they had a “Wife” day. She’s so much more than a mom. She’s a rock in our family. She’s one of a kind and we love her with all our hearts!
I hope you can take the time to honor your mother today. If you’re like me, and your mother is no longer here, then I encourage you to find another mother to honor!
Happy Mother’s Day!!!
